However, smart-ass comments are always welcomed as contributions. Hell, they are encouraged. Hope you were able to enjoy it. STB will live on via the facebook page. That will allow smart-ass comments to live on too.

Re: Get What You Can….Closing Sale

A big THANK YOU to both of you gents. I wish there was something i could have helped contribute besides the occasional smart ass comments. Thanks Sean for giving it a shot trying to unite the MK's..... Kudos

Re: Get What You Can….Closing Sale

Scott,
It was my pleasure. I don't know how you can keep doing it. It's hard as hell when no one contribute anything for it. Especially being out of rate. I think that the facebook page will be good enough for people to share things now days. I get so little pics and info from them, that it's just not worth the time and funds anymore.

Funny story, when I was at MSST 91108, me and my good friend used to have a mac v. pc style BM vs MK debated every thursday. One of the zingers he got on me was "at least out rating has a website". After that I went home and birthed the mk shop. So in fact it's kinda your fault! Best of luck to you. And thanks for your efforts too. Sorry about at the "STB's"! ;)
Sean

Re: Get What You Can….Closing Sale

Thanks for putting this together. I have to admit, I've had the same thoughts about Boatswainsmate.net. After 13 years running it, it's become stale and without people actively helping by providing fresh content, it becomes a pain in the ass at times....

Best wishes in the future and thanks for all you did.
Scott

Re: MK Desktop Wallpaper

Love this! My wife is amazed how I can figure out different issues without touching the equipment. There are those times where you can't just plug -in to find the problem. I have a 3rd that knows how his tools are used but is learning how to work those tools. I told him it takes time and experience. I learned alot about cars from my first one seeing it was aways broken. I'm the guy that is more into "tracing the sytem" to find the problem rather than grapping the diagnostic tool. It helps me to find all the weak points in the system.

Re: Petty Officer 3rd Class Shaun Lin, USCG

Thank you, Shaun was a great guy, he would appreciate this.

Re: MK Shop Patches Are Here

Glad you like it. Your correct, but incorrect. Yes, Disney did design the original DD logo for the CG & CGR, as they did for hundreds of military units during WW2. Most of them personally done by Walt himself. The DD logo came from the term Donald Duck Navy which was comprised of USCG & R, CG Auxiliary, and Navy. They were the ones assigned to guard the homeland and it's shipping and watch for U-Boats. They got the duck due to the fact they didn't go far from home. However, where you are wrong is the creation of the DD MK logo. Disney never drew a MK version. That was later adapted by a 3rd party vendor. You can see the original logo here: http://www.themkshop.com/wp...

Historic, yes. It's a cool piece of history and I thank you for bringing up the topic. Disney never made cartoons for CG rates, just CG units. There were also several designed for other CG boats since they never had names, just numbers. The actual meaning of my question about Disney knowing about the patch was more in regards about them knowing a 3rd party vendor was making money selling their image.

Re: MK Shop Patches Are Here

I got mine in the mail today. They are the ones who designed it. During WWII Disney came up with the cartoon for all the rates. They even went so far as to hand paint all fighter pilot flight jackets. So yes, Donald duck looking like a pirate/deck hand does seem a little silly it is a piece of our history as engineers. Im sure the people who did the drawings for Disney didnt know a MK from a DC, but were happy to be doing something for the war effort. Hope this helps.

Re: MK Shop Patches Are Here

Rex makes some quality patches.
